College and university ranking, US and world report

The 21st position saw a tie between two most competitive schools in the US system in 2018 national list. Berkeley has long held the title of best public university in the country but this year it is in tie with UCLA .

The rankings factor depend on measures like graduation and retention rates, and selectivity. And while US News & World is not the only college ranking, it is among the most closely watched.

Standford stood at 5th spot where as Princeton took the 1st place with Harvard following it.
