Oman and Kerala government statements on the release of Father Tom

The Oman government said in a statement online "In response to the Royal Orders of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said and as per a request from the Vatican to assist in the rescuing of a Vatican employee, the concerned authorities in the Sultanate, in coordination with the Yemeni authorities, have managed to find a Vatican government employee. He was transferred this morning to Muscat in preparation for his return home,"

Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan said "The rescue and release of priest Tom Uzhunnalil, who was abducted by terrorists, is a glad news. I learned that it is Oman's interference in the matter that led to the release of the father. Father is now undergoing treatment in Oman. We extend all the help possible for his return to Kerala and further treatment. I join everyone who's celebrating the safe return of Tom Uzhunnalil,". This statement was written by him on Facebook and he called it “glad news” to know Father has been released.

The confirmation news came to India by Sushma swaraj posting the news on twitter. She posted “I am happy to inform that Father Tom Uzhunnalil has been rescued.”
