New Delhi Sept 11: The National Judicial Data Grid (NJDG) has released its statistics and the main highlights of the data released are
* 4 states and a Union Territory have brought down the cases pending for over 10 years in their subordinate courts to almost zero.
* decade-old cases in the country account for 23 lakh.
* 9% of all cases pending in the subordinate courts are pending for more than 10 years.
* The justice delivery system in Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, and Chandigarh has picked up at a rapid pace.
* Delhi, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra, and Karnataka have brought down the decade long pending cases to almost 1 %.
* 2.54 crore cases pending in around 17,000 subordinate courts across the country.
* 22.76 lakh cases have been pending for more than 10 years.
* Two-thirds of the country's prison population comprises undertrials.
*Gujarat has 20% the highest percentage of cases pending for over 10 years in subordinate courts.
* Odisha at 17%
* Bihar at 16%
* UP at 13%
* West Bengal 12 %
* J&K 11%
* 11 lakh cases filed by senior citizens.
* 26 lakh cases filed by women.
