Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, New PM of Pak, First to fly F-16 fighter aircraft

New prime minister of Pakisthan, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, was the first to fly a fighter jet, US-made F-16 aircraft on Sunday.

Abbasi flew the fighter jet during his visit to Airpower centre of Excellence (ACE) at an operational air base of Pakistan Air force. The single engine aircraft’s flew instructions were briefed by Air Chief Sohail Aman.

Abbasi, 58 became the first prime minister to fly force aircraft and participate in air force sortie. The aircraft belonged to NO 9 squadron of the Pakistan air force.

The ACE trains PAF personnel as well as combat crew by international training exercises. When Abbasi was on visit, the exercise named ‘Saffron Bandit’ was going on. This exercise is held once in three years and both fighter jets and ground troops participate in it.
