Mudra Yojana generated 5.5 crore jobs

New Delhi Sept 9: A think tank body SKOCH has published a report.The main highlights of the report are

* The Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana (PMMY) has helped in creating 5.5 crore jobs.

* Industrialised states like Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra are the biggest beneficiaries of the PMMY.

* Rs 3.42 lakh crore loan has been disbursed under the scheme.

* 8 crore people have been benefitted under the scheme.

* Mostly small entrepreneurs have been benefitted from the scheme.



Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 8, 2015, has launched Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana (PMMY) with an objective to fund the unfunded.

currently, under the scheme, a loan of RS 10 lakh is available for non-agricultural activities.Activities allied to agriculture, such as dairy, poultry, bee-keeping etc, are also covered under the scheme.

Experts said that the scheme has helped many small entrepreneurs to expand their business earlier there was no official financial support from banks and they used to depend on money lenders who have charged a high rate of interest.
