Indian girl died in Texas floods

New Delhi/Texas, Sept 4: As we know that, The Hurricane Harvey floods have washed out the American Texas city recently. An Indian student Shalini Singh has died in Texas,10 days after she was rescued in the Hurricane Harvey floods here on Sunday.

While coming to details, The deceased Shalini Singh, a student pursuing Masters degree in public health from the Texas A&M University, was rescued from the Lake Bryan, where she along with another Indian student Nikhil Bhatia, had gone swimming last Saturday.

Singh, originally hailing from Delhi, came to the US only last month to pursue the two years Masters program after her degree in Dental Surgery from ITS Dental College in Greater Noida. She will be cremated in Bryan on Tuesday or Wednesday next week, according to the consulate sources.

While Bhatia died in hospital on August 30, Singh, who continued to be in a critical condition, was declared dead late on Sunday night. Shalini's brother and maternal uncle and sister were arrived after knowing about her death.

Consulate officials said that, Shalini's funeral will be held in Brayan. Almost 150,000 Indian-Americans live in and around Houston area and have been badly hit by the hurricane.
