STAR India acquires IPL broadcast rights

New Delhi, September 04: As we knew that Indian Premier League one of the biggest tournaments nowadays, previously the Sony television has bagged the digital rights for the IPL Matches. This time Star India wins the IPL media rights for a period of 5 years with a bid of INR 16,370.50 crores.
In 2008, Sony Pictures Network had won the IPL media rights for a period of 10 years. As many as 24 companies had reportedly bought picked up the bid documents. These included Star India, Sony Pictures Networks India, Facebook, Amazon, Twitter, Yahoo, Reliance Jio, Discovery Sport, Sky, British Telecom and ESPN Digital Media. Only Star and Sony’s bids were found to be eligible for broadcast after the initial evaluation.
