LPG cylinder price hiked

New Delhi, September 2: The government has increased the subsidized cooking gas (LPG) price by Rs. 7 per cylinder. And now, the price of 14.2 kg LPG cylinder at Rs. 479.77/- in Delhi has been increased by Rs. 487.18, the Indian Oil Company said.

With the government deciding to raise prices every month, the subsidies will be removed by the end of this financial year. This is the fourth rise in prices of LPG since May this year.

On July 31, oil minister Dharmendra Pradhan informed the Lok Sabha that oil subsidy companies have been ordered to increase subsidized cooking gas by Rs. 4 per cylinder every month to eliminate subsidies. The government has previously ordered IOC, BPCL, and HPCL to raise Rs 2 per cylinder excluding VAT.

Meanwhile, in different parts of the country, the opposition party, Congress protested against the price hike and inflation.

# Price of kerosene oil sold through public distribution system (PDS) was also hiked by about 25 paise a liter and that of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) by 4% to Rs 50,020 a kilolitre from Rs 48,110.

# Public sector oil firms revise LPG and ATF prices on 1st of every month. The average oil price determines the price based on the foreign exchange rate of the past month.
