Air India Disinvestment soon

New Delhi, Aug 31: A reform may be achieved soon. The Government has expedited the process of Disinvestment of Air India. Finance Minister has held a review meeting on this issue yesterday.

Recently the cabinet has in principle given approval for disinvestment of the Airlines and has appointed a committee under the leadership of Finance Minister.

The review Meeting was attended by Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu and Power Minister Piyush Goyal as well as senior officials of Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Civil Aviation.

Speaking to Media after an Hour long Meeting Jaitley has said that "The government has decided to appoint transaction advisers for Air India disinvestment".

He has also said that "The decision will be taken expeditiously but in their normal course referring to stake sale of Airline."

Currently, the Airline owes the banks a Debt of More than RS 50000 crore. Sources say that Some more companies are showing interest in acquiring Air India and the government may split the organization for an easy and early disinvestment of the organization.
