APSRTC bus catches fire in Vijayawada

Vijayawada, Aug 30: Here a dangerous incident has unveiled while an APSRTS bus caught fire due to leakage of Compressed Natural Gas in Vijayawada, but no casualties were found during the incident here on Tuesday.

Coming to details, There are more than 50 passengers of an APSRTC bus proceeding from Autonagar to the Railway Station, caught fire on the National Highway when it reached New Government General Hospital around 8.15 am.

An alert driver observed leakage of gas, stopped the bus and asked the passengers to alight. Within minutes, the vehicle went up in flames, the commuters said.

Most of the passengers were proceeding to offices, schools, and colleges.



The AP State Disaster Response and Fire Services Department personnel rushed to the spot and put out the fire.

"The fire personnel extinguished flames in 30 minutes and no passenger suffered burns in the incident," Autonagar Station Fire Officer K. Srinivas said.

Following the accident, police stopped vehicular movement on the National Highway for some time. The RTC officials rushed to the spot and launched an inquired into the cause of the accident.
