Dera Chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh sentenced for 10 years jail

Haryana, Aug 28: The CBI court sentences Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh to 10 years in jail for rape.

The hearing for deciding the quantum of punishment to Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh will take place on Monday.

As per the reports, the court proceedings against the rape convict self-styled godman are scheduled to take place around 2:30 pm. The punishment can be a jail term not less than seven years but may even extend to life imprisonment.

Necessary security arrangements have been made for the setting of a CBI Court in Sunaria District Jail, Rohtak for the pronouncement of quantum of sentence against Ram Rahim Singh.

Panchkula, Sirsa, Uttar Pradesh and neighboring areas have been put on high alert, with paramilitary forces deployed in various pockets of the states.

Earlier on Friday, CBI judge Jagdeep Singh held the 50-year-old Dera chief guilty of rape in the case that was registered on the basis of an anonymous written complaint in 2002 that he had sexually exploited two female disciples.
