Manohar Parrikar wins in Panaji By-Poll,BJP bags other in Goa

Goa Aug 28: A much anticipated day has arrived.
The Counting for 4 by poll elections which were held recently started.Some results have been declared. The results are as follows

Bharatiya Janata Party has won the by-elections to two assembly seats in Goa.Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has won the Panaji By poll election. Health minister Vishwajit Rane has won the Valpoi by poll election.

Manohar has defeated his rival, Congress' Girish Chodankar, by 4,803 votes.

Mr. Parrikar got 9,862 votes.
5,059 votes were polled for Mr. Chodankar.
Goa Suraksha Manch (GSM) president Anand Shirodkar got 220 votes.
301 people opted for 'None Of The Above' or NOTA option.

The by poll was necessary because Sidharth Kuncolienkar of BJP has resigned. Earlier the CM has resigned as MLA in 2014 to become as a cabinet minister but later he was reappointed as CM after BJP along with other parties have formed a government in GOA after the elections were held in 2016.

In another, by poll, Vishwajit Rane retained his Valpoi seat by defeating his rival Roy Naik of the Congress by 10,066 votes.Earlier he resigned as MLA from Congress and has Joined BJP which didn't have a majority to form a government.

Experts say that the winner of two seats will boost the strength of BJP government in Goa .
