Vice President Venkaiah Naidu visits AP today

Vijayawada, Aug 26: The Indian Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu has visited the Andhra Pradesh here on Saturday.

Venkaiah Naidu, who came for the first to the state after assuming charge as Vice President, received a grand welcome from Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Governor ESL Narasimhan at Gannavaram airport here in the city.

Central Union Ministers, state Ministers, TDP leaders were also present to receive the Vice President. Venkaiah Naidu was taken in a special vehicle from the airport to Vijayawada.

Venkaiah Naidu said that he would discharge his duties in an unbiased and with utmost responsibility, maintain decorum and dignity of the position.

Speaking on the occasion of civic felicitation, the Vice President admitted that Andhra Pradesh state was meted out a raw deal during the time of state bifurcation. Venkaiah Naidu said he fought against the government with all his strength in Rajya Sabha in getting equal justice to the state even though he was not representing Andhra Pradesh.

"During my stint in Delhi, I tried my best in getting IIT, IIM, Polavaram project, CIPET, Defence unit and so on to Andhra Pradesh," he said.

"I toured more than 600 districts in the country, I have seen several governments in my entire 40 years of political career, I swear no state has benefitted financial assistance from the centre as Andhra Pradesh has gained," he remarked.
