Case filed against Sakshi TV news channel

Hyderabad, Aug 24: The Hyderabad police on Wednesday registered a case under Representation of People's Act against Sakshi Telugu TV news channel following a complaint lodged by Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwarlal, for violating election code of conduct while covering Nandyal by-elections.

According to the Hyderabad Central Crime Station, the case would be transferred to Nandyal police station.

Case filed against Sakshi TV over election code violation under IPC 126 and 155 sections.

EC claims that Sakshi TV telecasted the details while violating the election code. Election Commissioner Bhanwar Lal sent the complaint to Hyderabad Commissioner Mahinder Reddy from who the complaint was sent to CCS.

Later CCS police took the legal opinion over the complaint after which they filed the case as per the peoples representative act under section 155 and 126. CCS DGP Avinash Mahanthi made official confirmation of the case.
