Load of Cigarettes worth Rs.4 crores robbed

Hyderabad, Aug 20: Here a huge robbery has occurred at mid-day, while few unidentified persons have blocked a container truck, thrashed the driver and stolen with cigarettes worth Rs 4 crore here on Saturday.

Coming to the matter, The truck was transporting cigarettes from Musheerabad to Tirupati in Chittoor district. As the lorry reached Pedda Amberpet, about 20 persons arrived in two Sumo SUVs and stopped the truck.

Few people took the driver and masked him to a forest area near Malkapur and thrashed him before leaving him there. Others, transferred the cigarettes from the truck to another vehicle that they brought along with them.

The driver managed to reach Choutuppal police station and lodged a complaint against culprists.
