Bomb Attack Prevented

Guwahati Aug 18: An attack at the Guwahati railway station was prevented on Friday.Police have seized IED packed in gunny bag which was being booked by Rail Mail Service at the station.

Bomb experts of the special branch of Assam Police reached the spot and confirmed that it was an IED, a timer device. Officials have said that "It would be around eight to 10 kg and its radius of impact would have been 100 meters, they have taken the bomb to a safe place in an isolated area at Rani on the city outskirts and diffused the bomb.

Railway police said that " the bag containing the IED was booked at Guwahati general post office and was brought to the railway station on Thursday night."

They said that they have detected the bag after we heard a clock ticking sound from one of the bags bound for Silchar.A home guard immediately isolated the bag and informed the Police.

Police said that they have started the investigation and will soon nab the culprits involved.
