Tribal Unions lashed out AP CM

Vishakapatnam, Aug 09: The Andhra Pradesh Girijana Sangham has slammed the TDP government at the state Government organizing Adivasi day celebrations without handing over documents of forest rights to any tribal after the Telugu Desam Party assumed power in the State.

While speaking to media reporters here on Tuesday, State general secretary of Girijana Sangham P. Appalanarsa said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was visiting Araku in the name of World Adivasi Day celebrations without scrapping the GO no. 97 with regard to bauxite mining in the agency.

"During the last Adivasi Day celebrations also, the Government created a stir by proposing bauxite mining. The tribals are now worried what is in store for the. On the one hand, the Government has not kept any of its promises while on the other hand, it is trying to cheat tribals in the name of empowerment which is not there", he remarked.

He also said that the dues to coffee farmers were not paid so far and even the Pedalabudu village adopted by the Chief Minister did not witness comprehensive development.

The Government talked about converting Araku into an educational hub.But it is plotting to close down the Government and Zilla Parishad schools in tribal areas. During the current season, as many as 98 tribals died due to malaria, diarrhea, typhoid and other diseases so far.
