SC dismisses petition on mandatory yoga for children

New Delhi Aug 8: A case was rejected recently. The Supreme Court on Tuesday has dismissed a petition on framing of nation yoga policy. Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay, a lawyer and Delhi BJP spokesperson and J C Seth have filed a petition demanding that " the court must issue for making the yoga practice compulsory for students of classes 1-8 across the country."

The court has dismissed the petition and said that it is not under our jurisdiction and its for the government to take a decision on such issue.
The court has also said that "we are nobody to say what is to be taught in schools. It is none of our business. How can we direct that ".

SC has also reacted strongly and said that "What is to be taught in schools is not a fundamental right,". Finally the court has asked the center to look into this issue.
