LPG subsidy for poor will stay, assures Dharmendra Pradhan

New Delhi, August 08: Union Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said here on Monday that subsidy on kerosene and cooking gas cylinders would continue to be used for households.

We have no plan to withdraw subsidy on LPG for domestic use. Subsidy on LPG and kerosene will continue for the poor and common people," Pradhan told reporters here

He said a natural gas pipeline would be constructed from Chittagong to Tripura to overcome the shortage of cooking gas to the Northeast.

Instead, we are going to build a tube line for the diesel delivery from Siligudi in West Bengal to Parvathipur in Bangladesh.

Pradhan laid the foundation stone for the LPG bottling plant to be constructed at Rs 143 crore.
