Britannia to set up new plant in Maharastra

Mumbai Aug 8: A new industry would soon be setup.
Britannia Industries has said that it would soon invest RS 1,000-crore to set up a mega food park at Ranjangaon in Maharashtra.

The company said that it will relocate its upcoming croissant-making facility from Tamil Nadu to the proposed integrated food-park in Maharastra.

Sources say that the company is exploring the setting up of own facilities at Nepal and in African markets to ramp up its International business.

Company officials have said that the fiscal incentives offered by the state was one of the reasons to shift the manufacturing facility.

Britannia had signed a joint venture with Chipita SA (a Greek company) for the manufacture and sale of croissants. Sources say that Work for establishing new plant would begin this year.The facility will include

* Multiple biscuit-making lines.
* One cake making line.
* A croissant one to start with.
* Rusk manufacturing lines.
* An integrated dairy back-end facility
* A flour-mill if it is feasible.

The company hopes that new plant set up would help to reduce the sale of outsourced products.
