Cross voting in Gujarat RS polls

Gujarat Aug 8: Rajyasabha election in Gujarat is being held today.Currently, the polling has been completed. All though the time was up to 4 pm but all 176 MLAs have voted.Officers said that the counting would at 4 pm.

The battle has become prestigious for both BJP and Congress.Currently, 3 candidates from BJP such as Amit Shah, Smriti Iran, and Balwantsinh Rajput are in the race. Congress has fielded Ahmed Patel political secretary to Sonia Gandhi. Currently, 45 votes are needed to win an RS seat.



Sources say that 8 Congress MLA have voted for BJP and they have said that many more members have cross voted.Earlier 44 MLA were shifted to a resort in Bengaluru.

Former Congress leader Vaghela who has quit the party has said that he has voted for BJP. NCP has also voted for BJP candidate.

Finally, both parties have expressed confidence that they would win.
