Amazon to setup food retail stores

New Delhi Aug 8: A good news for customers. Amazon will soon enter into food retail business. Sources say that the company will start its sale from Diwali this year.

The government has already granted approval for the company under the 100 % FDI food retail manufactured in India. The company has already announced that it would invest $500 million in India over next five years.

E-Commerce website may also set up brick and Mortar shops and may sell products through its subsidary Amazon Retail India Pvt Ltd. The company may soon sell products under private label similar to the US.

currently, the company is selling food products through Amazon Pantry from third-party sellers. Amazon Now App offers grocery delivery on the same day through a tie-up with retailers such as Big Bazaar and Hypercity in some cities.
