Government may impose Anti Dumping Duty on chinese tyres

New Delhi Aug 8: A protectionist measure may be taken soon.Sources say that the central government may impose an anti—dumping duty of up to USD 452.33 per tonne on a certain variety of Chinese pneumatic radial tyres. Currently, Indian tyre manufacturing industry is in crisis because of cheap imports from foreign countries.

Directorate General of Anti—dumping and Allied Duties (DGAD) A commerce ministry's investigation arm has recommended the Indian government to impose Anti dumping duty because it has concluded that

* Domestic companies have suffered heavily because of the dumped imports of these tyres from China.

* DGAD has a investigated the matter after Automotive Tyre Manufacturers Association (ATMA) have requested the government to impose such duty.



*sources say that the following companies are suffering huge losses
# Apollo Tyres
# J K Tyre Industries
# Ceat Ltd

The government may impose AD on the following items
# New/unused pneumatic radial tyres with or without tubes.

# Flap of rubber having nominal rim dia code above 16" used in buses and lorries/trucks.

Currently, the import of Chinese tyres has increased significantly.
