Hyderabad Police to ban the remote controlled drones

Hyderabad, Aug 08: The Hyderabad City Police have planned to ban the flying activities of remote controlled drones or para-gliders or remote controlled micro light aircraft here on Monday in the wake of intelligence inputs on possible attacks by terrorists or anti-social elements.

In a statement, City Police Commissioner M Mahender Reddy said there was an increasing trend by event organizers to use remote controlled drones fitted with cameras for getting aerial views for live telecasts and photography of various events.

The Commissioner said this had to be controlled in the wake of inputs received by Intelligence agencies about the possibility of attacks by terrorists or anti-social elements by the use of para-gliders, remote controlled drones, remote controlled microlight aircraft, etc.

"There is every likelihood of a breach of peace and disturbance of public tranquility and also there is grave danger to human life, health, safety and damage to public property on that account", he said, adding that such flying activities would not be permitted within the city limits without prior police permission in writing.

The order would remain in force from Tuesday to September 7, Reddy said. The Rachakonda police too on Monday asked managements and owners of function halls, gardens, farmhouses, resorts, and hotels to take note of the Director General of Civil Aviation's (DGCA) prohibitory orders issued against the use of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS).

"In the case of any violations to the instructions, necessary action against the concerned will be taken as per the law", Rachakonda Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat said.
