BCCI ignores Mithali

New Delhi, Aug 3: BCCI has landed in another controversy. The Cricket Body of India has ignored Indian women cricket captain Mithali Raj. The body has not recommended her name for Rajiv Khel Ratna award in the stipulated time. Many people have criticized the body for this decision.

The cricket Board has sent names of cricketers Cheteshwar Pujara and Harmanpreet Kaur for the Arjuna Award in time. Sources say that the following entries were received for the Rajiv Khel Ratna award

* Former Indian hockey captain Sardar Singh.
* Boxer Manoj Kumar.
* Four Rio Paralympic medal-winners — Deepa Malik, Devendra Jhajharia,
Mariappan Thangavelu and Varun Singh Bhati.

The following entries were received for Arjuna Award

* Prahsanti Singh-Indian basketball player
* Hockey stars namely SV Sunil, Dharamvir Singh and Deepika Thakur.



For Dhyan Chand Award the following people were nominated

*RP Singh (member of 1986 and 1990 World Cup hockey team)
* Sumrai Tete ( women hockey player who won the gold medal in 2002 Commonwealth Games).

For Dronacharya Award the following people were nominated Coaches Sandeep Sangwan and Romesh Pathania.

The selection committee will contain following members as judges

* Former athletes
* Sports journalists.
* Virender Sehwag former cricketer
* Athlete PT Usha.
* Justice (retd) CK Thakkar would be the head of the committee.

Let's hope BCCI doesn't ignore prominent players.
