Government to eliminate Gas subsidy

New Delhi July 31: Another shocking decision has been taken by the government. The central government has ordered state-run oil companies to raise subsidized cooking gas (LPG) prices by Rs. 4 per cylinder every month.

Sources say that the government has taken this decision to eliminate all the subsidies given by March next year.Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had informed the above matter in a written reply to Loksabha.

He has said that Earlier the companies had raised the prices by RS 2 a month. Currently the following companies supply LPG gas.

* Indian Oil (IOC)
* Bharat Petroleum (BPCL)
* Hindustan Petroleum (HPCL).

The increase would be applicable to 14.2 KG cylinder. Currently, people would be given 12 cyclinders per year at a subsidized rate.
