Centre has spent Rs.9000 crores on Aadhar

New Delhi, July 27: The Union Ministry of Parliament has informed the Parliament that the Union Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has spent over Rs 9,000 crore so far for issuing Aadhaar card from the past eight years.

UIDAI has spent Rs 9,055.73 crore from 2009-10 to 2017-18 (July 18, 2017), Union Minister P. Choudhury said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha.

The Rs 3,819.97 crore has been spent for Aadhaar registration and Rs 1,171.45 crore for printing and Aadhaar letters.

As on July 21, 2017, Aadhaar numbers of 116.09 crores were registered and 115.15 crores of Aadhaarcards were distributed.

The government has announced that it will connect Aadhaar to all as long as for mobile SIM card to the bank account. Aadhaar has become mandatory for government schemes.
