6.83 Lakh companies didnt file IT return in 2016-17

New Delhi July 26: A data has been revealed yesterday.
Minister of State for Finance Santosh Kumar Gangwar has replied to a question in RajyaSabha. Some of the important facts about companies having PAN but didn't file IT returns are

* 6.83 lakh companies have a permanent account number (PAN) but did not file income tax returns for the assessment year 2016-17.

*The number of companies which have PAN but do not file income tax returns have increased in past five years.

* 4.09 lakh companies in 2012-13.

* 4.60 lakh companies in 2013-14.

* 5.19 lakh in 2014-15.

* 5.73 lakh in 2015-16.

* 1.44 lakh companies in Delhi didn't file any return.

* In Mumbai 94,155 companies had PAN but they were non-filers of returns.

He has stated the above facts after a question was asked in this regard.
