Actress Charmee filed petition over drugs scandal

Hyderabad, July 25: As we now that, the SIT of the Excise Enforcement Department has served notice to Actress Charmee to appear before the SIT on July 26 for questioning in connection with the ongoing investigation of the drugs case.

The actress Charmee Kaur has moved the High Court at Hyderabad seeking a direction to the Telangana Excise Enforcement Department to not compel her for giving testimony to the Special Investigation Team formed to probe drugs issues.

Actress Charmee has stated in her petition that as per news reports, the SIT is forcefully collecting blood, hair and nail samples of the personalities without their informed consent. This would be nothing but compelled testimony and self-incrimination, she contended.

She also sought a direction to not collect blood, hair and nail samples of her by way of coercion during the proposed questioning of her in the drugs case.

Vishnuvardhan Reddy, the counsel for Charmee Kaur, made a mention on Monday before Justice Raja Elango seeking an urgent hearing on the petition. The judge refused the plea and said let it come in the normal course. The petition may be heard on Tuesday.

Already film personalities Puri Jagannadh, Tarun and others have been questioned.

However, She urged the court to direct the officers of SIT to follow the guidelines of Supreme Court in Nandini Satpathy versus PL Dani, case.

She also sought permission for her lawyers to be present at the time of questioning and also have the women officers examine her.
