GHMC to remove unofficial hoardings

Hyderabad, July 24: The GHMC officials have announced on Sunday to levy tariff on hoardings basing on their size and issue license for erecting billboards online.

Apart from it, the GHMC will also place all the data relating to the hoardings in the public domain to ensure transparency and accountability.

An official said that the civic body has been securing Rs 36 crore revenue a year from all hoardings erected in the city.

The Sources in the GHMC estimated that as many as 3,000 unauthorized hoardings came up and they caused Rs 100 crore revenue loss to the exchequer.

Meanwhile, A senior GHMC official said that the government had instructed the civic body to fix the tariff on the hoardings and issue online permissions or give extension as part of the ease of doing business (EODB) initiative.

The GHMC official further said civic body would develop software in such a way that it would cross-check the size of the hoardings with the existing data before according permission, he added.
