Students should have to pass 5th & 8th classes

Kolkata, July 23: Union Human Resources Minister Prakash Javadekar on Saturday said that with the support of the states, the center will soon start arrangements for the students to be stopped in the same class if they fail in the examination in class 5th and 8th grade.

He said that in the proposed bill to be passed in Parliament, the states have been empowered to conduct the examination of students of 5th and 8th in March, and in case of failure, students will be given one last chance to join the examination in May.

Javadekar said that if the student fails in both endeavors, then he will be stopped in the same class. He said that 25 states have already given their consent for this step.

He said that we decided in a joint meeting with the education ministers of all (states) that we can not allow the students passing out of class 5th and 8th grade in 9th. We will give states powers that they can stop students.

The Union Minister said that they were impressed with the policy of not blocking students from class I to 8. The Union Minister also said that education is not a political agenda. This is a national agenda. Education should be top priority for all political parties. He said, when we do inter-state meetings, West Bengal is absent. Everyone should take part in such meetings.
