Murugan wants Jeeva Samadhi

Chennai, July 23: Sriharan alias Murugan, a life convict in Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, has petitioned the prison department to allow him to observe 'Jeeva Samadhi' to end his misery.

According to a senior official information in the Vellore Central Prison for Men where Murugan has been lodged for over two decades, the life convict submitted his petition to the superintendent of prison G Shanmughasundaram on July 19.

The petition was addressed to the additional director general of police (ADGP) of prisons Sylendra Babu.

Murugan appealed to the ADGP to allow him to fulfill his wish to attain 'Jeeva samadhi' as he wanted to end his agony of undergoing imprisonment for over 26 years.

In his petition, Murugan stated that he would stop taking food from August 18.

"We forwarded the petition to the ADGP," a senior prison official told to media.

On other hand, The Rajiv Gandhi assassination case convict Nalini has decided to move Madras High Court on Monday to seek six months parole for her daughter's wedding.
