Centre plans to hike the speed of trains upto 600Kmph

New Delhi, July 22: The Central government is planning to increase the speed of trains up to 600 Km per hour.

The Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu revealed that The govt is collaborating with the technology giant Apple in order to develop the highest speed train in the world.

While speaking at Associated Chambers of Commerce of India event on Friday, Suresh said that the Central government was working with global technology firms like Apple with a view to achieving speeds of 600 kmph for Indian trains.

He said, "The initial idea is to increase the speed of the train to 200 kmph. You can yourself imagine how much traveling time this will save."

The corporate giant is working with the Indian railways in order to hike the speed of one of its trains, Gatiman Express, up to 600 kmph.

In case the train does successfully reach this speed, maintaining it in commercial use, it will become the fastest train in the world.

The NITI Aayog has already given the ambitious project its green signal sanctioning Rs18,000 crore to increase the train speeds.

The Gatimaan Express is a high-speed train that goes up to a top speed of 200 kmph. However, when compared to the high-speed trains around the world, 200 kmph seems measly number.
