Core group to reduce stress in police

Hyderabad, July 21: A core group was set up as part of efforts to reduce mental stress in police forces. This decision was taken by DGP Anurag Sharma at a high-level meeting held on Thursday.

Officials said the police were unable to coordinate their career and personal life due to family problems and other reasons. The core group was set up under the guidance of IG Charu Sinha to study deeper.

Various causative factors were discussed at the meeting and the DGP felt that the core group of officers should volunteer to work closely on the subject and come out with actionable solutions," an official release said.

IG (Training) Charu Sinha will coordinate the efforts of the core group which will also study various causative factors both short and long term that is "triggering" committing of suicides by police personnel, it said.

The report is presented by studying the causes of suicide in the police. It also suggests solutions. Home Secretary Rajeev Trivedi and others were present at the meeting.
