Petitioner asks SC: Will you send the Lord Venkateshwara to jail?

New Delhi, July 21: Here some interesting arguments have been made in the Supreme Court on a petition filed by Tirumala Tirupati Devastanam for giving the opportunity to exchange the amount of demonetized Rs.8.29 crores here on Thursday.

"While the Centre has also allowed District Co-operative Banks, post offices to deposit demonetised notes with RBI, he contended that not treating pilgrims' money lying with TTD at par with NRIs and district cooperative banks is discriminative", Petitioner Ramana Murthy claimed.

He also questioned,"The having of old currency should be treated as crime, the, will you sent the Lord venkateshwara to jail? or TTD to jail?"

He claimed it would mean offering to the God would not be utilised for stated purposes.The rejection of these old notes may have a risk of avoiding the benefits of devotional services,he added.
