Court denies abortion for 10 years girl

Chandigarh July 20: A shocking Judgement was delivered recently. A district court in Chandigarh has rejected the abortion plea of a 10-year-old rape survivor. Currently the girl is in her 26th week of pregnancy.

sources say that the court has passed this judgment after a medical report was filed by the gynecology department of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).

Currently Abortion of 26 weeks pregnancy is prohibited under Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) Act, however, the a parent can kill her fetus based if the court permits the woman after the examination of her medical report.

The judgment has sparked controversy because recently the Supreme Court had permitted women to terminate her 26 weeks pregnancy. Finally lets hope that the government amends the law so that minor girls are protected.
