SC: Privacy is not Absolute

New Delhi, July 20: The supreme court has made shocking comments yesterday. The Court has said that "Privacy is not absolute and the government has power for making laws to impose reasonable restrictions on citizens". The court has also noted that 'right to privacy' is 'amorphous' term.

SC has said that to declare privacy as a fundamental right, it must first be defined and it is nearly impossible to define it because all the fundamental rights published in the constitution have some element of privacy.The Court has also posed some questions

* How do we define privacy?
* What are its contents?
* It's contoured?
* How can the State regulate privacy?
* What obligations do the State have to protect a person's privacy?

The court also said that an attempt to define the right to privacy will cause more harm than good it is supposed to be. The above observations were made during the petition on Aadhar law by 9 judge constitutional bench. Sources say that AG will submit governments view in the court today.
