SC nod for reforming MCI

New Delhi July 18: An order has been passed today. The Supreme Court today has ordered the Central government to replace the existing oversight committee set up to supervise the functioning of the
Medical Council of India (MCI). The government has said that it would soon set up new panel will with five new eminent doctors.

Sources say that the court has given permission because the service of earlier doctors proposed were expired and the court has been satisfied with the new names suggested.

Earlier yesterday the court has ordered the government to suggest new names for a panel to be set up to supervise the functioning of MCI which is the country's largest medical inspection body.

This decision comes as a relief to the government because this would help in speed up the process to reform MCI.
