AP Govt to set up Industrial Park in Sri Lanka

Amaravati, July 18: The Government of Andhra Pradesh will develop an industrial park in Sri Lanka. The Sri Lanka country has been allocated 600 acres of land for this purpose.

TheChief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu assured of all help to the Sri Lankan industrialists who come forward to establish industries in Andhra Pradesh.

A Sri Lanka team headed by Southern Development Board (works under Sri Lanka Law and Order, Southern Development Ministry) chairman Shiranta Herat met the Chief Minister at the Secretariat on Monday evening and discussed the possibilities of establishing industries in the state.

Speaking to the Sri Lankan team, Naidu said that a decision was taken to constitute a team from the state to study the projects which can be established in Sri Lanka.

He said the government was planning to take the cooperation from Sri Lanka on pharma, horticulture and tourism sectors.

Disclosing that the Sri Lankan government was willing to allot 600 acres to AP for establishing industrial park in Sri Lanka, Shiranta Herat said that they had already identified the lands where the AP can take up pharma, horticulture and tourism projects.

Responding positively to the Sri Lanka's proposal, Naidu said both Sri Lanka and Andhra Pradesh were concentrating on the development of tourism industry.

He congratulated Sri Lanka for establishing Brandix apparel unit in Visakhapatnam, which is providing employment to 18,000 people.

He sought the establishment of some more units in AP, which will help the state provide more employment. Brandix representative Doraiswamy was also present.
