Tips for Filing Income Tax Returns

New Delhi, July 17: A deadline has been issued. The government has said that July 31 is the last date for filing tax returns for the financial year 2016-17. Many people have doubts regarding filing a tax return. the following tips would help people to file the return easily

* A person has to fill two forms numbered 16 and 26 AS.

* Form 16 is issued by the company stating that the tax has been deducted from salary (TDS).

* Form 26 AS is a self-certification form that a person must submit that he has paid all taxes.

* Before filing return one must make sure that both forms are tallied.

* Form 26 AS can be downloaded from Income Tax website.

* Finally, a person can file his return online by logging into the IT department website.

Let's hope that people file returns before July 31 so that they wouldn't be fined for late filing.
