Calcutta High court slams central Government

Kolkata July 17: The Calcutta High Court yesterday has slammed the central government. The Court has said that central government is allegedly delaying the appointment of judges.

A senior Judge has posed a question to the union government that "whether the nation could think of the parliament functioning with half its strength?" The court has also ordered for the immediate appointment of maximum number of judges so that the justice delivery system wouldn't collapse.

The bench has also said that we are working at less than half of the strength and it is a serious concern .totally 72 members are sanctioned and only 34 members are working. The court has also said that there would be serious concerns if we would step out of jurisdiction and start interfering in executive and legislative functions.

The centre has said that we will look into the issue and we will make sure that there would be no further delay in appointment of judges.
