Government will supply 24-hours power

Medak, July 17: The new era of Telangana Electricity has started.The Telangana government will have to supply 24-hours power in joint Medak district comprising the present Sangareddy, Siddipet, and Medak districts from Sunday 12 AM.

The Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao announced that the government will ensure 24×7 power supply to the farm sector across Telangana from the 2018 Kharif season.

The pilot session has been started in medak.

Mr.K Sadasiva Reddy, CGM of Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Corporation Limited (TSSPDCL), said there were 3.10 lakh agriculture connections in Sangareddy, Siddipet and Medak. Cheriyal and Husnabad, which were culled out from erstwhile Warangal and Karimnangar districts respectively and merged with Siddipet district, will also get 24-hour power supply.

Reddy said the current power consumption by the agriculture sector, which gets nine-hours supply a day, was 7 million units a day. The highest consumption was recorded at 10 million units a day during the peak of last Yasangi. Since paddy transplantation was not completed yet across the three districts, Reddy said the power consumption will not go up much immediately.
