Telangana and AP to get 1 TMC water from Krishna River

Hyderabad, July 14: The Krishna River Management Board has released water from Srisailam for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh on Thursday night.

The KRMB on Thursday ordered the release of 2 tmcft of water 1 tmc ft each —for TS and AP for drinking water needs till July 31.

According to sources, the irrigation ministers and secretaries of both the states were in touch over the phone and decided to draw 1 tmc ft for each state.

For AP requirements, 1 tmc ft water will be released to NS Right Canal from Srisailam, which is about 0.7 tmc ft net at NSP. It means about 4,000 cusecs per day from July 15 to July 17.

For Telangana requirements, HMWS&SB and AMRP, 1ft tmc water will be released at Srisailam, which is about 0.7 tmc ft net at NSP. It will be 500 cusecs per day from July 13 to July 31.

These releases for the two states' requirements include transmission losses from Srisailam to NSP and evaporation losses at NSP.
