400 Kgs of Gold recovered from Chennai Silks debris

Chennai, July 13: As we know that, On May 31, A huge fire accident occurred in Chennai silks in T-Nagar of Chennai. After the incident happened, some floors were collapsed, later the rest of the building was demolished by the authorities.

A spokesperson of Chennai Silks told The Hindu that some of it had melted. A major portion is yet to be retrieved. There is a locker on the sixth floor of the building and two lockers on the ground floor. During the demolition of the building, a locker on the sixth floor fell into debris, which was released on the 22nd of the last month.According to the sources, there were only significant documents that were damaged by fire.

The owners of Chennai Silks and Sri Kumaran Thangamaligai were hoping to retrieve the gold and other valuables since the locker was designed to withstand any natural calamity or major fire. It was difficult to pull out two lockers on the ground floor.The crew who tried to bring out the lockers.

Finally, They have retrieved only the one locker out of two. Around 400 kg of jewelry was recovered from a locker. Approximately 20 to 25 iron boxes were brought out and handed over to the relevant management. It is learned that the second locker of diamonds and silver things would be taken in another three days.
