Telangana to supply 80 lakh tons of coal

Telangana: Kothagudem, July 11: The Telangana state-run based Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) is going to supply the 80 lakh tons of coal to the Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL) for the current financial year.

The Senior executives of the two companies have signed a memorandum of understanding(MoU) here on Monday in the presence of Chairman and Managing Director of SCCL N. Sridhar and Managing Director of KPCL Kumar Nayak, who exchanged the documents later.

As per the agreement, the Singareni Colliers will supply the 81 lakh tons coal to three thermal power stations of KPCL.

According to the agreement, the SCCL will supply 30 lakh tons of coal to the thermal power station at Raichur, 20 lakh tons to the power station at Yermarus and another 31 lakh tons to the thermal station at Ballari.

Mr. Nayak said the supply of quality coal by SCCL was saving in the cost of transportation and also achieving good plant load factor.

As per their requirement, SCCL was supplying them coal with less than 32% moisture content with a proper plan and as a result, the Raichur thermal power station was able to achieve the best PLF of 77% during the last year and it was highest during the last 10 years.

Mr.Sridhar stated that against the production target of 66 million tons this year, there was demand for about 80 million tons. The timely and assured quality of coal supply was increasing the demand for Singareni coal, he noted.

Executive Director (Coal Movement) N. Srinivas, General Manager (Marketing) B. Kishan Rao, Deputy GM N.V.K. Srinivasa Rao from SCCL and Director (Technical) P. Bhaskar, Director (Finance) Nagaraju and others from KPCL participated.
