1993 Mumbai Serial Blast accused Kadir Ahmed got arrested

Lucknow, July 09: The police officials have been arrested the Prime Accused in the in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts.

Kadir Ahmed has been arrested by the police in his native district Bijnore, He was nabbed after a joint operation by the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terror Squad and the Gujarat Anti-Terror Squad, a police spokesperson said.

Ahmed is an accused under TADA (Terrorist and Disruptive Activities Prevention Act). He is alleged to have played a role in the landing of weapons and explosives in Jamnagar, Gujarat supplied by Tiger Memon for the blasts.

Memon is one of the alleged prime masterminds of the devastating attacks that left more than 250 persons dead. "UP ATS and Gujarat police are questioning Kadir Ahmed," said Aseem Arun, Inspector General, UP ATS. The police said the accused would be taken to Gujarat on a transit remand.
