Food at Commercial places to become cheaper

New Delhi, July 9: A good news for consumers. The central government has banned the 'Dual MRP' policy. An order was issued by Union Ministry of Consumer Affairs stating that retailers at premium locations will not be able to charge a higher MRP for their products.

This order will be implemented from January 1, 2018. The premium locations include

* Airports
* Malls
* Movie theaters
* any other commercial public places.

Sources say that the decision was taken after Legal Metrology Organisation (LMO) of Maharashtra has urged to abolish the current multiple pricing mechanisms.

Currently, many retailers charge a premium rate for snacks, water, and other items based on locations. Earlier LMO in Mumbai has issued notices to companies such as Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Red Bull, Flipkart, Amazon for practicing such abnormal pricing policies.

Finally, the consumers are happy because the burden on them is reduced.
