Hyderabad, July 08: The Telangana Govt has been planning the 3 rd phase of the Haritha Haram grandly, from this aspect the state govt has set up 2,925 nurseries and raised 42 crore saplings for plantation to be scheduled to start on July 12, Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Jupally Krishna Rao said on Friday.

Speaking to media persons at the State Secretariat here, he said this year, the government has targeted planting of 42 crore saplings across the State as part of a mission to plant 230 crore saplings in five years.

"We are making all necessary arrangements to protect the planted saplings and have also allocated separate funds for the development and protection of saplings at all levels," the Minister said.



Rao explained that so far, the government had spent Rs 1,700 crore for raising and protection of saplings which would be increased to ensure green cover in the State.

Briefing about the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development department's role, the Minister said that for the third phase of Haritha Haram, the department had raised 7.52 crore saplings in 776 nurseries.

Minister for Roads and Buildings T. Nageswara Rao has asked the district administration to put in place a coordinated action plan to ensure planting of 1.95 crore saplings and protecting them under the aegis of Green Brigades by actively involving all sections as part of the ensuing third phase of Haritha Haram beginning on July 12.

The Minister reviewed the arrangements for effective implementation of the green drive with the senior officials of various government departments at a meeting held here on Friday.
