GST :LPG cylinder prices hiked

New Delhi July 4: A burden for middle-class people is on the rise.Sources say that Domestic cooking gas LPG price has been hiked by up to Rs 32 per cylinder following the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST).

Earlier a 5 % VAT was imposed in some states and some states such as Delhi, Chandigarh, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal have exempted the tax but GST Council has decided to impose a 5 % tax on LPG. The prices of Subsidised LPG are as follows

* Subsidised LPG prices have gone up to Rs 477.46 per 14.2-kg cylinder
earlier the price was Rs 446.65 in Delhi.

* Subsidised LPG price has increased by Rs 31.67 per cylinder to Rs 480.32 in Kolkata.

*The LPG prices have been increased by Rs 31.41 in Chennai to Rs 465.56.

* In Mumbai, the price of LPG has gone up by Rs 14.28 to Rs 491.25 per cylinder. earlier there was 3 % VAT.

However, some states didn't see any increase in the price where VAT was collected. Sources this is the highest increase in gas prices since June 2011 where the price was increased RS 50 per cylinder.

However the main opposition party Congress has staged a Dharna and Demanded that GST of 5 % on LPG must be revoked so that customers don't bear the burden.
