Indo American JJ kapura wins award

Washington, July 4: An Indian student in the US has won 2017 National Speech and Debate Tournament in the USA. The NSD is considered as most prestigious high school competition in the country. J J Kapura a Sikh has won the title for composing his own persuasive speech titled 'Let's Dance' and he has addressed a social issue.

He won competition in the category of original oratory. He started his speech by performing a lively Bollywood dance and shared his experiences to Sikh-American youth. Curently he is studying West Des Moines community schools.

His speech mainly focused on how Sikhs are treated in America especially after 9/11 attacks and he was afraid to go out because they treated them as terrorists. Finally, he said that even today there some misapprehensions about Sikhs in society and he has tried to clear some of them with his speech.Let's hope that he wins many more awards in future.
